Editorial Review
Sort of a pared-down version of The Sims computer game, Pixel Chix provides grade-school girls with a virtual buddy whose every move they can control. Residing in a luxurious 2-story dark pink house, this Pixel Chick is a 2-dimensional LCD image imposed on a background with 3-dimensional furniture. Five action buttons on the front program the Pixel Chix pal to play, eat, change clothes, go out, or go to sleep, and "yes" and "no" buttons let girls answer the Pixel Chick's questions. As long as girls are playing with their chick, she is happy; but ignore her, and she gives her owner a lot of `tude by anxiously tapping her foot and clearing her throat. Attentive owners will continue to advance along the 5-level gaming system and accumulate more cool stuff for their Pixel Chix pal. However, neglecting the pal causes her to lose all her possessions and, eventually, her screen darkens and she splits. Connecting two Pixel Chix houses together lets virtual friends visit one another while hooking three or more together causes the pals to have a multi-caller phone chat or perform a dance together. --Cristina Vaamonde

4 out of 5 stars Great fun! Keeps them busy!   October 6, 2008
Its really a great toy, keeps my 6 year old daughter very busy and she enjoys the dimensions. Not too thrilled with the message it teaches though, the pixel chick is a real snob!

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   November 28, 2007

Pixel chix are so much fun!!! And if you find that they are teaching your daughter to be disrespectful, maybe you should be the one teaching her, not letting a toy do it. My daughter knows the difference between real life and make believe. Just because a character acts a certain way, doesn't mean she gets to. My daughter loves Bratz, however, she doesn't get to dress like one. Don't blame a toy for your poor parenting skills.

5 out of 5 stars Fun little Pixel Chix!   May 24, 2007

Purchased this toy for my four year old girl, along with one of the malls... and we BOTH enjoy it! I find the dialog to be extremely humorous, and to hear my little girl imitating the Pixel Chix's "YIKES" is hilarious. Her and I play side-by-side (and I'm 38!) and I find this toy to be fun! Sometimes childrens' toys can be, well, mind numbing, and what's refreshing here is that her and I can link the two sets up together and have a bit of a laugh! I have to say that once I did have the malfunction of the lines on the screen, but that was when I linked the mall and house whilst they were turned on, so please turn your toys off and I think you can avoid that. Sure, these toys aren't to the level of complexity of "The Sims", but they certainly are big fun in a wee package. I say spend the money and go for it! We're looking into buying another one or two - my husband wants to play also and struggles with waiting his turn (sheesh! Isn't that just like a BOY!!??). Have fun, enjoy the toy, and don't take it too seriously! The Chix are meant to be cute, irreverant and just plain fun!

4 out of 5 stars Definitely a great toy   March 21, 2007

I disagree, this toy is not disrespectful. The only reason she says "Excuse me?" and "Hello?" is because you dont pay enough attention to her. I dont think she's rude. But I do agree with you on the bratz dolls - but they're totally different than Pixel Chix. I have the two-story house and it's really cool. You should think again about taking the toy away from her...it TEACHES us kids respect, and how we should treat them nicely, and how bad it feels when someone says "HELLO?" or "EXCUSE ME?" and stuff. And it's not rude, either, that the pixel chix car says "Watch where you're going". Sorry, but I RESPECTFULLY disagree. I love the pixel chix houses!

1 out of 5 stars This toy is horrible!   March 17, 2007

I have taken it away from my daughter! She has such an attitude and is so disrespectful. I wouldn't allow my child to speak that way, so why would I allow her toys? It has the valley girl attitude, saying "Hello" and "Excuse me" with great negativity. She just has an attitude in general. My mom tried to get her the car also, which after hearing tires screach she says "Watch where you're going" with the same nasty attitude. Horrid, just horrid. I dont see how parents can let their kids play with this, then again, people let their girls play with brats dolls. Come on parents! Is this how you want you children acting?
